Upcoming Events (all events begin at 7 PM at the Lewis and Clark County Library in Helena unless otherwise noted) February 26. Bicentennial Update. What will Montanans do when all those projected thousands of "Lewis and Clarkies" visit us to mark the bicentennial of the Expedition's trek through our state in 2005-2006? And what will we Montanans get to enjoy? Join us to hear Amy Teegarden, Chair of the Lewis & Clark County Bicentennial Commission, and Rita Cortright from the Montana State Bicentennial Commission, who will present and discuss upcoming projects and special events. New projects in the works locally will be discussed and a new video presented. Jon Stoner from the Crimson Bluffs Chapter will also be present to tell us about renaming "York's Island". March 19. Bod Doerk. Former past President of both the Great Falls chpater and the Lewis & Clark Trail Heritage Foundation, will talk about the Wild and Scenic Area of the Missouri Breaks. April 6. Annual grade school Lewis & Clark projects. Also, Pierre Cruzatte, the main navigator and most esteemed musician of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, comes to life in a one-man show by Daniel Slosberg; "A Musical Journey Along the Lewis and Clark Trail". May 21. Pompey's Pillar will be featured. Early June. Annual hike to Lewis and Clark Pass. Mid June. Bob Berganitino will lead a field trip from the Lewis and Clark Caverns discussing the geography and geology of that area. July 19. 3rd Annual Gates of the Mountains Boat trip and dinner. Family dues are $15. Those under 12 are free. Contributing member is $25. Sustaining member is $50 or more per year. |
